Day 72

This La Nina....what is this weather all about?  Blimmin cold and miserable here in Sydney.  So on a wet Saturday with cricket cancelled and a raging head cold, the boys and I settled in for a board game - a kind of a charades/challenge game.  And one of my challenges was to sing the national anthem.  Question is - which one?  New Zealand or Australia?  Not wanting to take the easy road, and because I do actually live here, I attempted the Australian national anthem.  I got stuck on line one.  And really after almost 4 years here, you'd think I could do better than that.

So (warning - this is probably of no interest to um, anyone) ...

What are the words to the Australian national anthem - Advance Australian Fair?

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.

Postscript: is there a subliminal reason why I still cling to the NZ anthem.  Nah, take a look at this and feel it folks!
